Product Details
Piezoelectric knock (detonation) sensors mounted on the engine block to detect combustion knock frequencies (typically 6–16 kHz) and feed a signal to the ECU for ignition timing retard. Adequate knock detection prevents engine damage from prolonged detonation while allowing the ECU to maintain timing as close to MBT (minimum advance for best torque) as possible for fuel efficiency.
Our sensors use a piezoelectric ceramic disc element with resonant or flat-response frequency characteristics depending on OEM specification. Sensor body is stainless steel with thread and seating surface ground to OEM dimensions. Harness insulation is rated to 200°C for mounting locations near exhaust manifolds.
